Matching dress and ties

A friend is attending a graduation this summer and wanted a dress for her seven-year-old daughter and matching ties for her two sons.  She did a great job of picking the fabric...the ties and skirt are linen and the dress bodice is a cream-colored knit.  The dress went together very quickly, and the ties...oh the ties!  I've made ties before with a pattern found online...and I spent hours measuring and pressing and then measuring and pressing again.  Last week, I came across Simplicity 4762 and decided to give it a try.  It was super simple to work with, and the ties turned out beautifully.  I was glad it was so simple when she requested a third tie for her nephew.

Conveniently, the little girl and my daughter are just about the same size, so it was
easy to make it to fit.

  1. I LOVE your new blog! I haven't kept mine updated nearly as well as I had intended to, so I admire you for starting a whole new blog...and keeping TWO blogs going at a time! And as usual, I adore all of your crafts! They give me great ideas...now I just need the time, and the ambition to put those ideas to use!! :)
